SUNDAY PICNIC competed well in European Classics

Sunday Picnic(JPN), by Sunday Selence out of Italian 1000 Guineas & Oaks winner Atoll,was bred by Teruya Yoshida at his Shadai Farm.
After broken and pre-trained at Shadai,she was sent to the yard of French Maestro Andre Fabre at Chantilly.
Sunday Picnic made successful debut at Longchamp in November at 2, and won G3/PrixCleopatre at Saint-Cloud in May at 3.
She emerged as French Oaks canditate, however, Andre Fabre sent her to Epsom followingmonth, where she ran very bravely in the G1/Oaks and finished creditable fourth toRamruma.
It was first time when a horse bred in Japan finished in the frame of classicin England.

SHIVA's success in England and Ireland

Shiva(JPN), own-sister to Limnos, was born at Katsumi Yoshida's Northern Farm and sentback to Europe to have the racing career there, as well as her brother.
While Limnos was trained at Chantilly by D.
Sepulchre, Shiva(JPN) became a mamber ofstring under the care of Henry Cecil at Newmaekrt, and won the G3/Earl of Sefton S inApril 1999, which was the first graded stakes in England won by Japanese-bred horse.
On the following month, Cecil sent Shiva(JPN) to Ireland where She achieved anotherhistoric landmark for Japan.
Shiva(JPN) won G1/Tattersalls Gold Cup, holding that year'sEmirates World Series Champion Daylami in second, and became the first horse bred inJapan to win the Group One race in Europe.
