SUNDAY BREAK got the Graded Stakes on dirt in America

Koji Maeda's home-bred Sunday Break(JPN), by Forty Niner and half-brother to Japanese1000 guineas winner Phalaenopsis, was sent to United States after he was broken andpre-trained at North Hills Farm, Koji Maeda's breeding and training facility at Niikappuin Hokkaido, to be trained at California by Neil Drysdale.
This enterprising project obtained big fruit, as Sunday Break(JPN) won G2/Peter Pan Stakesat Belmont Park in May 2002, which was the first Graded Stakes on dirt in America wonby Japanese-bred.
Sunday Break(JPN) went out to G1/Belmont Stakes, final leg of UStriple crown, next start, and finished third behind Sarava and Medaglia d'Oro.
