One-two finish by JRHA graduates in G1/Mile Championship

Sadamu Patek

Japan Racing Horse Association is glad to announce that G1/Mile Championship on November 18th was won by Sadamu Patek(JPN), 4-y-o colt by Fuji Kiseki, who was bought at yearling session of 2009 JRHA Select Sale for 12,000,000yen, US$126, 315 at the exchange rate of the day, by Sadamu Onishi. And the second finisher in the same race, Grand Prix Boss(JPN), 4-y-o colt by Sakura Bakushin O, was bought at foal session of 2008 JRHA Select Sale for 27,000,000yen, US$252,336 at the exchange of rate of the day, by Grandprix Co.Ltd.
Mile Championship is the fourth Graded Stakes and the first Graded One Stakes for Sadamu Patek, bred by Shiraoi Farm and has been trained by Masato Nishizono for Sadamu Onishi. In addition, Sadamu Patek finished second to Orfevre(JPN) in G1/Satsuki Sho, the first leg of Japanese Triple Crown. Sadamu Patek has now earned 353,920,000yen, nearly 30 times of his own value at the sale.
And Grand Prix Boss has now earned 401,910,000yen, which is nearly 15 times of his price.

JRHA graduate, TAISEI LEGEND(JPN), won JPN-G1/JBC Sprint

Taisei Legend

Taisei Legend(JPN), 5-y-o Horse by King Kamehameha, won JPN-G1/JBC Sprint, the most prestigious sprint race on dirt in Japan, on November 5th at Kawasaki Racecourse.
It was smashing performance, as Taisei Legend ridden by Hiroyuki Uchida, broke quickly, led the 11 runners' field all the way, and won by three lengths, establishing the new track record.
Taisei Legend is bred by Katsumi Yoshida's Northern Farm and sold to Seihoku Tanaka at the yearling session of 2008 JRHA July Select Sale for 33,000,000yen, US$308,411 at the exchange rate of the day.
JBC Sprint is the 8th win for Taisei Legend, trained by Yoshito Yahagi at Ritto Training Center, from 26 starts, and he has earned 205,899,000yen, approximately US$2.5 million.
It is reported that Taisei Legend will be kept in training in 2013 and trained for G1/February Stakes at Tokyo.

DEEP BRILLANTE(JPN), JRHA graduate, won Japanese Derby

Deep Brillante

The winner of the 79th running of G1/Tokyo Yushun, Japanese Derby, on May 27th at Tokyo Racecourse, was called more than 10 minutes after the horses passed the winning post, and the enlarged photo judged Deep Brillante by Deep Impact(JPN), who was bought at 2009 JRHA Select Sale for 31,000,000yen, is the winner, and Fenomeno(JPN) by Stay Gold was second beaten by nose. Tosen Homareboshi(JPN) by Deep Impact(JPN), another graduate of 2009 JRHA Select Sale, where he was bought for 155,000,000yen, was third, World Ace(JPN) by Deep Impact(JPN) was fourth, and Gold Ship(JPN) by Stay Gold(JPN) was fifth.
Deep Brillante, bred by Paca Paca Farm and bought by Katsumi Yoshida at 2009 JRHA Sale, began his racing career winning the maiden at Hanshin on October 1st by five lengths, and it was followed by his first Graded Stakes victory in G3/Tokyo Sports Hai at Tokyo on November 19th. After finishing second both in G3/Kyodo Tsushin Hai at Tokyo on February 12th and G2/Yayoi Sho at Nakayama on March 18th, the colt trained by Yoshito Yahagi at Ritto finished third behind Gold Ship and World Ace in G1/Satsuki Sho, Japanese 2000 Guineas, at Nakayama on April 15th last time out. Deep Brillante has now earned 254,746,000yen, more than eight times of his purchased price, for Sunday Racing Club.
Deep Impact, sensational young sire, is represented by 14 yearlings and 16 foals at 2012 JRHA Select Sale on July 9th and 10th at Northern Horse Park, including Hip#201, yearling colt by Deep Impact out of Love and Bubbles, own brother to Deep Brillante.

CURREN BLACK HILL(JPN) remains unbeaten

Curren Black Hill

Curren Black Hill, three-year-old colt by Daiwa Major, won the G1/NHK Mile Cup on May 6th at Tokyo Racecourse easily and extended his unbeaten record since his racecourse debut to "4".
The 27 to 10 favorite in 18 runners' field broke well and dominated the race in front. The colt trained by Osamu Hirata kept running well on homestretch and took the race, which is widely recognized as "Japanese Guineas", by decisive three and half lengths.
Curren Black Hill, bred by Northern Farm, was offered at the foal session of JRHA July Select Sale in 2009 and bought by Takashi Suzuki for 34,000,000yen. He made all the maiden at Kyoto on January 21st by three lengths, came back at Kyoto four weeks later to take Kobushi Sho, stakes race of graduation class, and took the G2/New Zealand Trophy at Nakayama on April 7th, which is his first Graded Stakes.
Curren Black Hill is one of first crop by Daiwa Major, the Freshman Sires' Champion in Japan in 2011. Apart from Curren Black Hill, Daiwa Major by Sunday Silence, the winner of five Graded One Stakes from 1,600m to 2,000m, has sent Epice Arome, winner of G3/Kokura Nisai Stakes, and Tosen Benizakura, winner of G3/Fairy Stakes.
The 2012 renewal of JRHA July Select Sale, where the very best selection of colts and fillies by Daiwa Major are offered, will be organized on July 9th and 10th at Northern Horse Park.

Reigning Sprint Champion CURREN CHAN(JPN) strikes G1/Takamatsunomiya Kinen

Curren Chan

Curren Chan(JPN), five-year-old grey mare by Kurofune, won G1/Takamatsunomiya Kinen on March 25th over 1,200m on grass at Chukyo Racecourse.
Curren Chan, the 29 to 10 second favorite in 18 runners' race, draw clear bravely on homestretch to take the second stakes with the premier grade for herself.
Curren Chan, out of Tony Bin mare Spring Ticket, was bred by Shadai Farm and sold to Takashi Suzuki at the foal session of JRHA Select Sale in 2007 for 25,000,000yen, $202,429 at the exchange rate of sale day.
Takayuki Yasuda's trainee took her first Graded Stakes on April 9th at Hanshin, where she won G2/Hanshin Himba Stakes. Curren Chan went on to win G3/Hakodate Sprint Stakes on July 3rd and won another Grade Stakes, G3/Keeneland Cup, on August 28th at Sapporo, and G1/Sprinters' Stakes on October 2nd at Nakayama.
Curren Chan was unlucky fifth in G1 Hong Kong Sprint in December, and she was beaten again in G3/Ocean Stakes last time out. However, she has bounced back at Chukyo on March 25th and proved herself as one of the best sprinter emerged in Japan.
While the next start for Curren Chan, earner of nearly 400 million yen purse, is not decided, it is reported that the connection has the ambition to ship Curren Chan to the United Kingdom to take on Black Caviar, Australian Super Mare, in G1/Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.

CURREN CHAN(JPN), JRHA graduate, named Japanese Champion Sprinter

Japan Racing Association announced the JRA Award and Curren Chan, who won five races including G1/Sprinters' Stakes in 2011, was named Japan's Champion Sprinter. The filly by Kurofune out of Spring Ticket, collected 270 of 285 votes.
Curren Chan, bred by Teruya Yoshida of Shadai Farm, was bought by Takashi Suzuki, the oculist who is well-known as the expert of surgery to cure glaucoma, at JRHA Foal Sale in 2007 for 25,000,000yen, and has been trained by Takayuki Yasuda at Ritto Training Center.
Curren Chan, who has earned nearly 300 million Yen, is kept in training in 2012, and is reported she is trained for G1/Takamatsunomiya Kinen over 1200m at Chukyo on March 25th.
